I’ve always been passionate about education, receiving my B.A. in World Literatures, and teaching a couple classes as a graduate student, before earning my Master’s in Public Health. My area of focus was global mental health, and I have experience analyzing data to determine the best outcomes.
I have worked in many non-traditional teaching roles, such as:
Montessori assistant
teacher for individuals with developmental disabilities who could not attend mainstream school
after-school program teacher through the YWCA
Graduate Teaching Assistant, instructing my own class for Comparative Studies 100
I’m lucky that my wife chose to be a pilot, because I constantly take volunteer opportunities and unpaid positions that I love. This photo is from one of my three international Habitat for Humanity trips (I saved up each year before we became parents, and traveled to Ecuador, Portugal, and Costa Rica). I also spent a lot of time working on local builds, and with community organizations like Centro Mexicano, NLG legal observers, College-Bound mentoring for foster youth, and so many more!
In my free time, I love to sew, knit, crochet, and embroider, both for my own clothing and as gifts for others. I also love to read - you can check out my Goodreads profile for over 1000 book recommendations. My favorite franchise is Star Trek, and I love classic video games like Tetris and Myst.
